Committed to helping parents find, and caregivers create quality child care.

The Child Care Resource and Referral Program provides support, resources, and referral services for child care providers and parents.

The Child Care Resource and Referral Program also works with community groups to promote quality child care choices that meet the needs of local families.

Professional Resources Program

The Professional Resources Program provides service to individuals over the age of 19 and who have been identified as having a developmental disability, their family members, and service providers.

Program services are provided throughout the Peace River/Liard region.

  • Community Awareness
    • Ongoing training, events, and activities assisting the community in understanding individuals with development disabilities in order to promote community inclusion.
  • Professional Services
    • The ability for self-advocates, families, and service providers to access professional services that may or may not be available within the Peace River/Liard region, by providing financial support and other assistance.
  • Professional Development
    • Ongoing and one time training for self-advocates, families, and service providers through workshops, seminars, etc.
  • Resource Materials
    • A resource library containing an extensive array of books, videos, and other learning materials. A current listing of resource materials is available on the PRP website.

A request for service may be submitted directly, through any of the sponsoring agencies, or through Community Living BC.

Residential Programs

Community Support Workers provide twenty four hour direct and indirect support to individuals with various developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and challenging behaviours.

Each individual is supported to live interdependently in the community through assistance with daily activities both in and outside of their homes.

Community Support Workers teach, assist, and enable individuals with:

Community Support Workers:

The Social Worker, family members, professionals, and staff team regularly assess an individual's current needs through a Personal Service Plan.

Case planning is ongoing, and achieved through the Accountability Case Management method.

A Program's current needs are assessed through an Annual Program Plan.

Supported Child Development Program

The Supported Child Development Program supports and assists children with special needs to attend typical child care settings.

Support may include:

Children may be eligible if they have one or more of the following challenges:

A referral to the program may be made by a child's family, an infant development program, child care setting, school, Ministry of Children and Family Development, or any other community professional.

Eligibility is based on information obtained from a professional assessment, and the completion of a Support Guide.
