Job Summary

Under the direction of the Department Manager, The Temporary Awake Residential Night Worker will maintain a safe, comfortable and clean-living environment by:

  • Monitoring the safety and well-being of residents during the night and attending to their needs.

Qualifications

The Awake Residential Night Worker will have:

  • A Grade 12 Diploma;
  • Six months recent, related experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Skills & Knowledge

The Awake Residential Night Worker will require:

  • The ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental disorders;
  • The ability to manage high risk behaviours;
  • The ability to manage crisis situations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Organization, prioritization and motivation skills;
  • Excellent problem solving skills;
  • The ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
  • The ability to work in an isolated environment;
  • The ability to work with people of diverse ages, cultures and personal situations;
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Word and email programs;
  • A valid driver’s license;
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificates;
  • A W.H.M.I.S. Certificate;
  • A Medication Delivery Training Certificate;
  • FoodSafe Certificate;
  • Foundations Training and
  • a CPI Certificate.

Hours of Work

35 hours per week, flexible to meet program needs.

5 days on 5days off 2 days on 2 days off

10pm to 8am

Rate of Pay

$23.73 per hour, as per the Collective Agreement.
