Job Summary
Under the direction of the Department Manager, The Temporary Awake Residential Night Worker will maintain a safe, comfortable and clean-living environment by:
- Monitoring the safety and well-being of residents during the night and attending to their needs.
Qualifications
The Awake Residential Night Worker will have:
- A Grade 12 Diploma;
- Six months recent, related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Skills & Knowledge
The Awake Residential Night Worker will require:
- The ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental disorders;
- The ability to manage high risk behaviours;
- The ability to manage crisis situations;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Organization, prioritization and motivation skills;
- Excellent problem solving skills;
- The ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
- The ability to work in an isolated environment;
- The ability to work with people of diverse ages, cultures and personal situations;
- Computer literacy in Excel, Word and email programs;
- A valid driver’s license;
- Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificates;
- A W.H.M.I.S. Certificate;
- A Medication Delivery Training Certificate;
- FoodSafe Certificate;
- Foundations Training and
- a CPI Certificate.

Hours of Work
35 hours per week, flexible to meet program needs.
Sunday/Monday and every other Thursday/Friday/Saturday
10pm to 8am
Rate of Pay
$23.73 per hour, as per the Collective Agreement.
