PROGRAM: Better @ Home & Square 1 for Seniors
REPORTS TO: Department Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator will:
· Plan, implement and oversee the day-to-day activities of the program and its volunteers
· Assess the needs of seniors that are referred to the program
· Develop a plan to connect seniors with existing services in the community which include, advocacy, non-medical supports, nutrition/food securities, social/recreational connections and growth
QUALIFICATIONS:
· a diploma in a related human/social service field
· two years recent, related experience, including volunteer management experience, or
· an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
· Excellent verbal and written communication
· Good public presentation skills
· Tact and diplomacy
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Good problem solving skills
· Ability to work independently
· Working knowledge of Excel, Word and e-mail programs
· Ability to work with diverse cultures
· Valid driver’s license
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· understand the day to day activities of the program
· recruit, screen, interview and select volunteers
· orient and train volunteers for the program
· assess the volunteer’s skills and match them to placement opportunities
· place, supervise and evaluate the program volunteers
· oversee the volunteer program, review program procedures and recommend changes to enhance the program
· coordinate a rewards/recognition program and special events for volunteers
· consult with community groups and professionals to identify needs and trends of the community
· maintain contact with community groups to promote interest, participation and support of the program
· develop promotional materials
· maintain program statistics and reports
· maintain records of volunteer placements and hours, and other information as required
· act as a liaison between the Program Coordinator, volunteers and clients
· conduct intake interviews with seniors
· perform other related duties as required to ensure success of the program
HOURS OF WORK:
21 hours per week, flexible to meet program needs.
RATE OF PAY:
$29.17, As per the Collective Agreement
