Job Summary

Reporting to the Department Manager - Advocacy & Women's Safety, The Program Coordinator will:

  • Plan, implement and oversee the day to day activities of the program and its volunteers
  • Participate in program development, policies and procedures, and program evaluation
  • Offer supportive counselling, referrals and advocacy appropriate to meeting the individual needs of women who are survivors of wife assault, sexual assault and emotional abuse

Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and any licensing requirements are met.
  • Recruit, orientate, train, monitor, and provide support to program volunteers.
  • Provide supportive counselling to women and their children who have experienced abuse and make appropriate referrals
  • Establish and maintain a Safe House program
  • Accompany women to safe house locations in the community if requested or transport to other communities if needed/requested
  • Assist in arranging longer term housing solutions
  • Develop and implement short-term case plans and ensure that the plan is suitable to meet the needs of the service recipient
  • Make recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policies and procedures and program evaluation.
  • Work with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the program in external events.
  • Maintain related records and statistics that capture all necessary data relevant to monitoring program delivery and evaluation
  • Provide information and documentation for any necessary reports, including mid-year evaluations and year-end evaluations to the Department Manager
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the Department Manager.

Qualifications

The Program Coordinator will have:

  • A diploma in related human/social service field
  • Two years recent, related experience, including one-year supervision or administration experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Hours of Work

  • 20 hours per week - On-call hours required

Rate of Pay

$28.32 per hour. Grid Level 12 applies to this position.
